My Style Now and Over the Years
It’s very hard for me to define my current style. I mostly make stone and wood bead jewelry and accessories now, concentrating on the helpful metaphysical properties of the stones. I’ll dabble with glass and metal beads, particularly Czech glass beads, from time to time. I guess my current style depends on what has been selling most, as well as what I’ve most recently purchased. I’m only just now starting to work with more expensive materials, from stones to sterling silver findings.
Originally, my style was very Bohemian; that is, it was very hippie-like – relaxed and unconventional. My budget dictated that I use inexpensive or repurposed beads and other materials. I would copy the styles I saw for sale in stores and online, but the pieces usually came out very different from the prototypes. When I was making jewelry for my SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) persona, I would do my best to copy the styles of 6th century Europe.
